Over 500 Volunteers from 16 years to 84 years, give up their own time to make all patients and visitors feel welcome across the 3 Trust Hospitals.

Our Exciting Projects:

Home From Hospital Companionship Volunteers: 

  Home From Hospital

Our volunteers give 5 weeks support In Patient's Home: offering services such as Befriending/Essential Shopping and Advice on other community services.

Student and 6th Form - Meal Time Project:

6th Form Meal Time Students

We link with local 6th Form Schools:

  • Landau Forte
  • Repton
  • Derby Moor
  • Littleover
  • John Port  


 To offer 6th form students the opportunity to gain experience within the NHS.


Derby College Health and Social Care Scheme


As a Trust, we support local students from Derby College to gain much needed ward experience.  We offer full day placements, to enable students to complete their qualifications.


The Trust is supported by many other Voluntary Services.  

They include the League of Friends, Chaplaincy, MacMillan Unit,  CAMTAD, Umbrella and Sight Support Derbyshire and Friends of the Baby Unit .


As well as helping patients find their way around our hospitals, our volunteers also help on  wards; outpatients clinics, tea bars and shops;

drive the patient buggy;

deliver newspapers and library service

provide hand massages, and manicure 

help new  mums with breastfeeding

We currently have no facility to offer parking for anyone wishing to volunteer, so please consider this if you are thinking about volunteering.
