PA to HR Manager and Quality Improvment Lead in the Rehab and Cancer Directorate and has been working here since December 2004

My typical day consists of liaising with both managers to work on their priorities. I then support this by arranging meetings, drafting correspondence and running ad-hoc projects to deadlines. I also provide meeting support for End of Life, NCAG, plus Rehab and Cancer Risk Meetings.

The best thing about my job is the people that I work with. Working for two managers means two teams, two sets of priorities and twice the number of challenges but also twice the opportunity to get involved and make a difference.

It’s a busy environment that gives you a buzz. There are over 7500 people here at the Trust with lots of differing roles. It’s more than doctors and nurses, it’s admin staff, support staff, therapists, managers, researchers, and scientists that all make a difference to patient care.

Pat looks after the day to day supervision of the payroll team, communicates with Managers and staff to ensure we get correct information in a timely manner to ensure we meet our payroll deadlines, working closely with Finance and HR colleagues, some tasks include liaising with HMRC, processing various deductions and allowances, producing many checking reports, to ensure the end result of processing the payroll to the highest standard.

Pat feels the best part of her job is the successful finalisation of the payroll each month, "making that final deadline is always a great challenge for the team, and I am proud to say they always rise to it".
