Homecare is the ability to treat appropriate patients suffering from a variety of illnesses and conditions at home, ranging from simple medication delivery, to specialist nursing care.

The annual drugs spend for the Trust is over £43 million. Of this over £10 million is spent on Homecare treatments, which include treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Crohn's Disease, Cystic fibrosis, HIV, Renal, Multiple Sclerosis, & Parkinson’s.

The pharmacy department manage this workload by arranging prescriptions for each patient, processing orders to be sent to the homecare providers and processing payment on receipt of an invoice.

The department also plays a significant role in ensuring providers adhere to contractual obligations and governance control and liaise with the providers and specialist clinical staff to develop service and realise best practice.
