5.5 Anthelminitics


Mebendazole tablets,suspension
Levamisole tablets (unlicensed product and indication) - Used in frequently relapsing, steroid dependent nephrotic syndrome (paediatrics).        
Pripsen has been discontinued (due to lack of availability of raw material). There is now no licensed product in the UK for the treatment of threadworms in children under two years. Some centres recommend the use of hygiene measuresonly until the age of 6 months, when the use of mebendazole may be prescribed (off-licence) in accordance with the BNF-C and NICE CKS.
