New email service launches for patients

Published 31/03/2016

Patients at Derby Teaching Hospitals will soon be able to receive appointment letters by email.

From Monday, all patients will have the chance to join the Trust’s new patient email service, which will see appointments and information sent over email, rather than in the post.

The service is optional and open to all patients in the area who are registered with a GP, whether they are currently receiving treatment or not. It simply means the next appointment letter will be sent via email, rather than in the post.

The new service will provide faster delivery of letters direct to a patient’s inbox. All emails will be password protected to ensure confidentiality.

Patients can sign up through the Trust’s website. They will be asked to provide their name, date of birth, NHS number and email address.
