Published 07/03/2013
Former East Enders star Dean Gaffney, has kindly donated tickets for

the final of the BBC One show ‘Let’s Dance for Comic Relief’ to say thank you for the kindness and compassion shown to him by the doctors and nurses at the Royal Derby Hospital following his recent car accident.

Dean, who has now fully recovered from the accident, will be performing a dance routine, along with other soap stars, to ‘You can’t Stop the Beat’ from the musical Hairspray to raise money for the charity Comic Relief.

Surgeon, Mr Sujeev Rajapakse, who operated on Dean’s head injury along with the nurses from the ward, Alison Reynolds and Tina Murphy will travel to London on Saturday, 9 March as VIP guests to watch Dean in the final.

Dean said: “It’s the least that I can do! The producers of the show have been very generous and didn't hesitate in agreeing to help. It’s a small way of thanking the hospital staff for all that they did for me. Without their help and support I wouldn't have been able to take part.”

Staff nurse, Tina Murphy said: “I’m really excited and can’t believe I’m going to watch the live show. It’s really nice for him to show his appreciation by donating these tickets and I am sure we will all have a great time.”
