Upper gastrointestinal surgery

This unit provides surgical services for conditions of the oesophagus, stomach, duodenum, pancreas and gallbladder. These include cancers, gastro-oesophageal reflux, gallstones, obesity (please see bariatric surgery) and pancreatitis.

The consultant team is supported by upper GI nurse specialist and hepatobilary nurse specialist input as part of a wider MDT teams. All outpatient clinics are undertaken in the urology outpatient clinic with daycase operating being performed in the general daycase facility and all other operating being performed in the general theatre suite.
