About us

Asthma is a common condition affecting over 5 million people in the UK. It is caused by inflammation of the airways and leads to symptoms including wheezing, coughing and difficulty in breathing. Although there is no cure for asthma, there are a number of treatments that can help effectively control the condition.

The Asthma Service at Royal Derby Hospital is led by Dr. Irfan Wahedna and Dr. Deepak Subramanian; our newly appointed specialist asthma nurse is Sonia Greenwood.

We are in the process of setting up a dedicated asthma clinic with additional support from other healthcare professionals including physiotherapists and speech and language therapists.
