Welcome to the Radiotherapy department at the Royal Derby Hospital

Radiotherapy Building

Our Department

The radiotherapy department is situated on level 0 near entrance 24 of the Royal Derby Hospital.

We are an out-patient department with opening hours from 8:00am – 8:00pm, from Monday to Friday, during a period of machine replacements and calibration. There is also an out-of-hours emergency treatment service which is provided at weekends and bank holidays.

Radiotherapy People 1

The staff here at Derby aim to provide a high quality service to patients and their families. We provide a radiotherapy service for patients from Derby city, southern Derbyshire, and south-east Staffordshire. This includes Tibshelf and Chesterfield in the north to Tamworth in the South, serving a population of around 700,000 people. We are very hard working and committed, but more importantly friendly, caring and empathetic. We continually aim to improve our service. We ask for feedback so that we can concentrate on the things that are important to our patients.

The Royal Derby is a teaching hospital and in Radiotherapy we have formed strong links with Sheffield Hallam University and their students. You may see and come into contact with students around the department throughout your treatment. They are always fully supervised throughout their training.

Radiotherapy is continuously improving. New treatment techniques are constantly being developed, and radiotherapy equipment ever-evolving. We at Derby are excited to be part of this progressive environment.
