  • Specialist outpatient department, level 1, Royal Derby Hospital

Patients with a progressive, life-limiting illness can be seen by a consultant in palliative medicine in the outpatient setting.

Clinics are held at the Royal Derby Hospital and at out-reach locations in the community (see schedule below).

An assessment will be carried out with the patient and any relative or carer the patient wants present.

Any symptoms, social, psychological and spiritual concerns will be considered. Patients should bring all their current medication. This initial visit may take up to an hour.

Occasionally medical students may sit in on a consultation. The patient's permission will be sought first.
