Trauma & orthopaedic inpatient occupational therapy

This service provides assessment, treatment and occupational therapy management for adult patients admitted for elective orthopaedic surgery or with traumatic orthopaedic injuries.

The occupational therapy team focus on inpatients whose medical condition, health and/or social care needs, physical disability and/or cognitive impairment are affecting their ability to complete daily living activities independently or safely. Inpatients are often recovering from broken bones, other trauma and pre planned operations (e.g. hip replacements).

  • pre-operative assessment

  • community based specialist equipment service

  • providing assistive equipment and sale of small aids

  • telephone pre-clerking

  • home visits and access visits as appropriate 

Other Information

The orthopaedic occupational therapy team is leading the way in providing an extended service that runs 7 days a week. The team have also extended the working day to support the timely assessment and discharge of patients.

The occupational therapy service operates:

Monday - Friday 8:30am-6:00pm

Saturdays and Sundays 8:30am– 5.15pm
