Level 3, ward 301, Main Hospital, Royal Derby Hospital
The unit provides a rehabilitation service for adults with complex neurological disabilities resulting from a neurological injury or neurological condition (neurological – relating to the brain and nervous system).
Patients will have access to a multi-disciplinary team; consultants, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists are all resident on the unit.
We also have input from other disciplines e.g. psychologists, dieticians as required and other services e.g. orthotics, wheelchair services.
We liaise closely with social services and other specialist services and support groups such as the traumatic brain injury team and headway.
The unit operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for patients who are 17 years of age and older.
Admission will be in accordance with specific criteria and following agreement with the patient, their carers or relatives (where appropriate) and the unit senior team. Patients will be given written information about the unit prior to admission.
