Gynaecological cancer

Gynaecology outpatient department, Royal derby Hospital
(best entrance -  20)

Women referred by their GP with suspected gynaecological cancers will be cared for by a team of specialist doctors (Gynaecology Oncologists).

We provide a service for gynaecological cancers including vulval and vaginal cancers and vulval and vaginal pre-cancers. In addition, other rare tumours are managed including germ cells tumours and cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancers.

The purpose of the service is to treat specialised cancers and pre-cancers in a multidisciplinary team, with the involvement of gynaecologists, dermatologists, oncologists and specialist radiologists and pathologists.

Staffing of the cancer centre includes 3 gynae oncology consultants, a clinical oncologist, a clinical nurse specialist, an oncology sister, 2 radiologists and 2 pathologists.

Primary treatments may involve surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy or a combination of these. In addition, support services such as pathology and palliative care are also well established.
