The gastroenterology/hepatology service includes specialist assessment, investigation and comprehensive range of treatment for disorders of the oesophagus, stomach, bowel, pancreas and liver. Patients can be treated as in patients on the ward or as out patients in clinic.

The gastroenterology/hepatology team is a multidisciplinary team comprising of doctors, nurses, dieticians and pharmacists, supported by dedicated secretarial and administrative staff. We an award winning team: an award has been won by the Hepatitis C nurses for creating partnerships with the community.

We undertake an active role in the education of both undergraduates from the Nottingham medical school, Derby graduate entry medical school students and nursing students from Nottingham and Derby universities. You may therefore encounter students at your consultation.

We have an active research team and are taking part in numerous clinical trials. If you are interested in taking part in these then information can be obtained during your visit.

Other information 

For first consultation appointments please bring: 

  • a urine sample (or provide one on arrival) 
  • any blood pressure or blood sugar records 
  • Current medication information, bring one of the following: 

a list, a current prescription, the boxes for the medications

Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time to allow for:

  • receptionist to check personal details
  •  to provide a urine test if necessary
  • to check your weight
