Dolphin ward

Level 2, Derbyshire Children’s Hospital, Royal Derby Hospital
(The nearest entrance is 18)

Dolphin is a general acute ward that nurses children and young people with both surgical and medical conditions.  There are fourteen beds, although during the busy winter period this can be increased to sixteen to eighteen.  Most of the beds are used to care for babies up to the age of two, with a variety of medical conditions.

Two beds are dedicated to the care of high dependancy patients up to the age of sixteen, including children who may need close monitoring after an operation.  Children who require certain specialised care are referred to other specialist centres.

In keeping with the philosophy of Derbyshire Children's Hospital, Dolphin ward practices family-centred care and participation in care with parents / carers and families.
