Winners: October 2017 - November 2017

In October and November 2017 we received 321 nominations for staff across the Trust from patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues. Presentations were made at Public Board in January 2018.

 ZoomCharlotte Smith, Best Frontline

Best frontline member of staff

Winner : Charlotte Smith, Nurse, ED

Charlotte was nominated by a colleague for going above and beyond to provide excellent end of life care to a patient on Ward 101, while attending to the needs of several other patients on an incredibly busy shift. She was the only nurse for 5 complex patients all of whom had different needs and was very attentive to all. With her help it was possible to facilitate a visit from a bed-bound patient on SAU to visit her husband in the last moments of his life. The family were immensely grateful. Judges felt that Charlotte’s actions would have left the family concerned with a better experience of bereavement, a lasting legacy that would stay with them.

 ZoomJo Seaton

Best Inspirational Leader

Winner: Jo Seaton, Patient Flow Manager

Jo was nominated for her work supporting patient flow in areas including ED, MAU, and base wards under times of extreme pressure. Her positive attitude was highlighted, along with her ‘can do’ attitude. She was recently praised for her ‘talent, hard work and ongoing good cheer’ by an ED consultant and is highly respected for her problem solving skills. Judges chose Jo because they felt that she was the kind of leader they would want to have behind them at times of pressure. They felt that she copes with any circumstance calmly and positively with a ‘can do’, supportive attitude.

ZoomBest Team, Discharge Team

Best Team

Winner: Discharge Lounge Team

The Discharge Lounge was nominated by several patients who mentioned the excellent care they received and the ‘family feel’ of the unit. They mentioned that they were a dedicated team who worked over and above their remit to ensure patient safety and thorough, excellent care. Judges felt that the Discharge team worked in a difficult environment with patients desperate to get home. Several nominations were received for the team, praising their ‘over and above’ actions. The judges felt that their friendly approach really stood out.

ZoomCancer Performance Standards

Chairman and Chief Executive's Awards

Winner: Cancer Performance Standards

In October 2017 we managed to achieve all 9 cancer standards, including the 62 day cancer standard. This is an incredible achievement, as timely diagnostics and treatment for people with suspected or actual cancer is vital. The team pictured above are key colleagues who have played a significant part in the delivery of these standards, which cover many specialities and all three of the clinical divisions.

Winner: Seasonal Pressures

Many colleagues across the Trust have contributed to the huge effort necessary in response to the increased seasonal pressure with hard work, tireless resolve and inspiring commitment. They have helped keep patients safe and provided them with compassionate care in challenging circumstances. Thank you to everyone involved.
