Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust understands the difficulties that can exist for staff with childcare responsibilities outside of work. We aim to do all we can to help staff balance their responsibilities at work and childcare issues. Listed below are some of the help provided by the Trust:
Flexible Working
All staff has the right to request flexible working under our employee friendly policy. There is a formal procedure for requesting flexible working, such as part-time working, job-share, annualised hours/term time working and agreed shifts. Managers must consider all requests and should approve unless there are good service related reasons meaning it is not possible. However it should be remembered that managers need to guarantee patient care, and the entitlement is to request.
Workplace Nursery
The Trust has its own workplace nursery for children of Trust staff, aged 0-5 years, on Uttoxeter Road. Please contact Playaway nursery direct on 01332 362542 for availability of places, prices and for show- rounds.
Childcare vouchers
If you use registered childcare such as day nursery, Ofsted registered childminder or holiday club you can use childcare vouchers to pay for the care and save up to £85 per month just by using the vouchers.
Information & Advice
The staff benefits manager can provide information on day nurseries, Ofsted registered childminders, out of school clubs and holiday childcare. We also offer advice on what to look for in a good quality nursery or childcare setting. Contact Martin Rawson on 01332 785130 for information.
