Our Services for SMEs

We are an experienced team on designing, setting up, managing and conducting clinical trials. We are offering a wide range of services to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) which would like to conduct a clinical trial within NHS.

Our team can provide the following services:

  • Literature Search and Systematic Literature

A Research Clinical Librarian and the medical statistician can assist with systematic literature reviews and reviews of on-going and active studies. They can assist with the development and registration of systematic review protocol, literature search, data collection tools, meta-analysis and publications of the review findings as soon as you have an idea for a research project.

  • Governance

The Governance Team work with investigators and all relevant stakeholders with respect to study set-up.  The team ensure that clinical trials and other research studies within the Trust are in compliance with UK and EU legislation related to clinical trials and clinical research.

  • Statistics & Data Management

Statistical and data management services are provided to SMEs wishing to undertake clinical trials within the NHS. The Statistics and Data Managment team can provide expert advice on methodology, design, sample size, statistical tests, randomisation, database set up and management, and interpretation of trial findings.

  • Funding

We will work with you, in conjunction with various external partners, in order to identify a suitable funder and submit an application. Following the development of the research protocol, we'll help you identify and attribute the study costs appropriately and assist you with the development of the funding application.

  • Trial Management

The Clinical Trials Managers will assist you with the design, development, management and monitoring of the research project throughout the study lifecycle.

  • Research Pharmacy

The pharmacy has a number of ICH/GCP trained pharmacy technicians and pharmacists who manage the pharmacy input into studies on a day to day basis. In addition to this, Liz Bedford (Principal R&D Pharmacist) works closely with the rest of the Research and Development department, local researchers and commercial sponsors to facilitate set up of new studies.

  • Research Finance

The experienced Research Accountant will work closely with you and colleagues in the DHFT Finance Department in order to appropriately cost studies for grant applications and to manage research accounts once funds have been received.
