Clinical notes
Test for Fabry disease. The enzyme is measured in leucocytes extracted from dried blood spot samples. The enzymes are unstable and so whole blood EDTA samples should be sent to Derby Pathology within 2 hours of venepuncture. The Laboratory will prepare the dried blood spot cards which stabilises the sample. These are then sent to the reference  lab by 1st class post.
