Fungal investigations (Mycology)

Nails, Hair or Skin scrapings
Sample container
Dermapak 2000 Mycology Specimen Transport or sterile universal container
Volume required
Nail and hair = enough to cut into 13 pieces 1-2mm in size.
Special requirements for specimen collection
Hair: Send pulled hair not cut. 
Skin: Send plenty of skin debris from around any suspected patches. 
Nail: Ensure the sample is taken from various parts of the nail.

Can be kept at ambient temperature after collection.

Turn around time
Microscopy within 24hrs of receipt in the lab (Mon-Fri). Culture 2 weeks.
