Clinical notes
May be markedly raised in acute pancreatitis (typically above 5-fold). Milder elevations may occur in other acute abdominal conditions such as perforated duodenal ulcer. Also raised in diabetic ketosis and salivary gland disorders (notably mumps). 
Lipaemic has an negative interference in this assay.
