4th January 2011 - 24/7 PPCI
Derby Hospitals has extended its cardiology services to provide primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) 24 hours a day after being selected by the East Midlands Stroke and Cardiac Network to deliver this new national standard of care. Derby’s new out-of-hours consultant-based cardiology rota will ensure that patients requiring urgent cardiology assessment and treatment have prompt access leading to better outcomes. Primary angioplasty is known to have better short-term survival rates than traditional thrombolytic treatment. The provision of 24/7 PPCI will enable us to save money and save lives by removing a step from the patient pathway, making the quality of care patients receive more efficient and effective.

1st December 2010 - New Clinical Navigation Service Tel: 01332 789099
Providing GPs with immediate access to clinical advice, to discuss assessment  or admission for patients ensuring GPs are able to access the right support at the right time to aid their decisionmaking for those borderline patients who may or may not need acute admission. This means as a health community we are now better placed to reduce those admissions that come about purely as a result of no real alternative. Treating patients in the right place at the right time will lead to better care and better value. It will also ensure that acute services are available for those in greatest need.

1st October 2010 - New Integrated Respiratory Service
The community (AIR Team) and acute trust respiratory nursing team have joined together to form a new integrated respiratory service cross southern Derbyshire. The new Adult Respiratory Team (ART) is managed by Derby Hospitals. It will continue to provide existing services including diagnosis, complex case management, home oxygen services and respiratory physiotherapy and in addition will be able to provide an extended COPD Early Supported Discharge Scheme (ESD) at the Royal Derby Hospital.
