What Foundation Trust means to you

Annual members meeting
Being a member is an ideal way of finding out about all the excellent work we do here at Derby Teaching Hospitals. We currently have over 10,000 Foundation Trust members who can all play a part in our future.

Through our members and the Council of Governors, we listen and respond to the views of local people, patients and staff. This is because as a member you can have your say about major decisions we take.

While we remain very much part of the NHS, our Foundation Trust status gives us greater freedom to provide services in the most effective and practical ways possible. We also have opportunities to borrow money to invest in improving services that meet local needs. However, we still have to meet national quality standards and be inspected in the same way as other hospitals.

“When I found out the benefits of being a Trust member I soon signed up my friends and family.”

Carolyn O’Kelly
