Care of the Critically ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP)

Objectives

Aims to provide instruction in the practical management of critically ill surgical patients of all types. CCrISP aims to provide them with a common sense consensus approach to surgical critical care.

 This course was developed and quality assured by The Royal College of Surgeons of England, www.rcseng.ac.uk/courses

Target Group

The course is targeted at basic surgical trainees from all disciplines, who are ideally approaching the end of their BST rotation. They should have undertaken at least 1 year of BST jobs and have at least 6 months of general surgery. The course also helps prepare surgeons for a specialist registrar post, where they will quickly have to cope with increased clinical responsibility and decision making.

Duration

The course is spread over 3 days.

Assessment

The assessment on the course includes continual subjective assessment of the candidate’s core knowledge, clinical insight and enthusiasm and assessment of the final day scenarios.

Cost

This course can be booked at a cost of £600. This includes meals and refreshments during the course.
