To be a thriving provider of postgraduate medical and dental education, recognised locally and

nationally for innovation, research and the provision of optimal learning environments, for

the benefit of trainees, trainers, and ultimately the patients whom we serve.

Mr. Jonathan Allsop, Director of Postgraduate Medical Education

The aim of the Postgraduate Medical Education Administrative Team is to support

the Director of Postgraduate Medical Education, College and Specialty Tutors to

ensure the quality of training meets or exceeds the standards set by the General

Medical Council (GMC).

The needs of training grade doctors will be met in accordance with the requirements

of the Learning Development Agreement (LDA) and the Trust’s agreed learning objectives.

Some of the key services provided by the team are:

To act as a source of advice, guidance and pastoral support for all doctors in training.

To ensure there is a core curriculum for each specialty and that educational objectives

are set in place for each training post.

To develop and update teaching programmes for trainee doctors and to ensure

attendance at mandatory teaching is sustained.

To monitor the Health Education England East Midlands HEE(EM) study leave policy

for trainee medical staff.

To facilitate and encourage the training of consultants in teaching and supervisory roles.

To work closely with the clinical directorate staff to ensure that both corporate and

local induction programmes are devised and implemented for all new trainee doctors and

that all new starters are released to attend.
