Tom is a Consultant and Research Lead in Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Derby Hospital. His sub-specialty interests include respiratory infection, interventional bronchoscopy and lung cancer.

After graduating from Oxford University in 2003 he completed his general medical and specialty training in the East Midlands. His post-graduate research explored the changing characteristics of adult pneumonia following the introduction of a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine to infant immunisation schedules, and gained a Doctorate of Medicine in 2012 from the University of Nottingham.

He was appointed a Consultant at the Royal Derby Hospital in 2013, and contributes to a general respiratory outpatient clinic at Ilkeston Community Hospital.

Tom's ongoing research interests include investigating novel ways of enhancing recovery from pneumonia and other respiratory infections, and developing new paradigms in the acute management of pneumonia to improve outcomes, in collaboration with the Nottingham Respiratory Infections Group.

In his spare time Tom enjoys keeping a productive allotment and entertaining his young children.
