What we’re planning

The Royal Derby Hospital has been designed to support a reduction in our energy consumption. The building control system is controlled by one central computer that adapts the heating and cooling in relation to the outside temperature; all WC and bathroom lights automatically switch on and off by detecting movement, and all our toilets are set to reduced flushing mode; the glass frontage to the building was designed to let in natural light, reducing our reliance on electric lights in this area.

But we’re always working to develop initiatives which improve our sustainability.

We recently installed solar panels at London Road Community Hospital, and we’re now looking at different ways to heat the hospital.
