Derby Hospitals Charity says - we need your clothes!

8 June 2012

An incredible £2,000 has been raised for the Derbyshire Children’s Hospital Charitable Fund through the clothes and shoe recycling bank at Derby Hospitals’ Manor car park since it was installed two years ago.

Derby Hospitals Charity teamed up with local recycling company Green Light Enterprise Ltd to offer staff and members of the public the opportunity to recycle their unwanted clothes and shoes while raising funds for the Children’s Hospital.

Julie Chapman, manager of Derby Hospitals Charity, said: “We want to say a big thank you to all of the staff who have recycled their unwanted clothes and shoes over the past couple of years. We really want to encourage even more staff and members of the public to recycle their unwanted clothes and shoes in this way so that is why we are saying “We need your clothes!”

“The Children’s Hospital Charitable Fund receives more than 50% of the profit and the more clothes and shoes that are recycled, the more we are helping the environment and the more money we raise.“

Karen Cookson, from Green Light Enterprise Ltd, said: “We know we can greatly improve on amounts raised each month simply by spreading the word among everyone who works at the hospital and those who live in the local community by asking them to take their unwanted items to the clothing bank.

“This is a really great local charity which benefits directly every child who needs to spend time at the hospital, which we are committed to supporting.”

Karen Cookson from Green Light Enterprise Ltd will be visiting the Children’s Hospital on Wednesday 13 June 2012 at 10am for an official presentation.
