Christmas comes early for diabetes nurse Karen

       17 December 2012

Karen Gale was thrilled to receive a call last Thursday letting her know that she was the lucky winner of Derby Hospitals Charity Lottery’s £500 Christmas first prize

Karen, who works as a specialist diabetes nurse at the Royal Derby Hospital, said: “I was really shocked when I got the call to tell me I had won.  We have just moved house, so this £500 really could not have come at a better time! I have been in the lottery for a while now - and have two goes each week and have won three times so far. I joined the Lottery because it is a local lottery helping local good causes at the hospital.”

The lottery is drawn weekly and prizes won previously have included overnight stays at various hotels includingthe four star Danubius hotel in London, Christmas  hampers, balloon flights, hospitality and tickets to local sporting events and Uttoxeter races, meals at the Genting Casino with overnight stays at the Holiday Inn, Spa treats with afternoon tea, theatre and cinema tickets and cash prizes for £25, £50 and £500.   As it always seems a long while to wait until January pay day Derby Hospital Charity Lottery is having an “all cash” January with prizes of £150 1st prize, £50 2nd prize and £25 3rd prize.

Derby Hospitals Charity Lottery is open to everyone and costs just £2 per week to enter. It really is the local lottery where everybody wins - the more people who take part, the more prizes available and the more money raised for Derby Hospitals Charity to help provide those all important “extras” for your local hospital. Now we have made it even easier to join the lottery as we have now launched our online registration page at www.derbyhospitals.nhs.uk/about-us/derby-hospitals-charity/dhc-lottery/register-online/
