Published 16/09/2013

Two members of staff at Derby Hospitals have been shortlisted by the East Midlands Leadership Academy in the 2013 NHS Recognition Awards.

Debbie Edwards has been shortlisted for the NHS Patient Inclusivity Leader of the Year Award for her work as learning disability Liaison Nurse. Debbie is seconded from Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to work at Derby Hospitals, supporting patients with learning disabilities and their families, to help them deal with their treatment and stay in hospital.

Amanda Parker, who is Back Care Advisor at Derby Hospitals, has been shortlisted as NHS Mentor / Coach of the Year.

There were more than 100 nominations from across the East Midlands for the awards, which recognise best practice and inspirational leadership across the NHS in the region.
“We are absolutely delighted to see two of our staff win this recognition which is very much deserved. We wish Amanda and Debbie every success at November’s awards ceremony. Once again, staff at Derby Hospitals are being recognised for their work which improves patient care in our hospitals and for this I congratulate them” said Chief Nurse Cathy Winfield.
