Discover what happens in an intensive care unit at an open day running on the unit at the Royal Derby Hospital.

Visitors to the unit will be able to see a bed set up with the technology used to support people cared for on the unit, as well as some of the cutting edge systems used to monitor these patients.

Physiotherapists, dietitians and speech and language therapists will be sharing information about the way they work to provide holistic care for patients who are critically unwell.

Staff from the unit will be on hand to answer questions throughout the day, along with representatives from the Organ Donation Committee. There will also be demonstrations of basic life support by Trust resuscitation trainers.

Refreshments will be available on the unit, which is located on level two of the hospital.

The unit will be open to the public from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, 22 April. Intensive Care is on level two of the Royal Derby Hospital.
