Derby Hospitals shortlisted for five awards

Medical teams at Derby Hospitals are celebrating after being shortlisted for five awards in two prestigious national competitions.

The five shortlistings are for awards in several categories in both the Patient Safety Awards and Care Integration Awards.

Derby Hospitals has been shortlisted in the Patient Safety in Diagnosis category in the Patient Safety Awards for its pioneering work in setting up the UK’s first electronic monitoring system to help identify patients with life threatening acute kidney injuries.

The Trust has also been nominated in the Improving Safety in Medicines Management category of the Patient Safety Awards for its work in implementing electronic prescribing of medicines.

“I am delighted that the focus on patient safety and experience, which has extended throughout our hospitals, is being recognised nationally. This is a tremendous achievement to obtain five shortlistings in these major awards, this shows how seriously our senior clinical staff take patient safety and experience” says Derby Hospitals Chief Executive Sue James.

Derby Hospitals has also been nominated for three awards in the Care Integration Awards, which celebrate and recognise health services that provide high-quality, effective and seamless care to patients.

The nominations are in for two awards in the Diabetes Care category and for another award in the Women’s Health category for the Trust’s PROCEED project, offering pre-conception care for women with diabetes.
