Partnership shortlisted for a Student Nursing Times Award

Published 22/03/2013
Derby Hospitals, in partnership with the School of Nursing at the University of Nottingham and University of Derby, has been shortlisted for a Student Nursing Times Award 2013 in the category ‘Partnership of the Year’.

The Student Nursing Times Awards recognise and reward outstanding educational establishments and honour those who are committed to developing new nursing talent as mentors, lecturers and providers of placements.

Being shortlisted in the new category for 2013, ‘Partnership of the Year’ demonstrates the strong partnership Derby Hospitals has with both universities to train nurses to deliver high standards of care at the Royal Derby Hospital and London Road Community Hospital. Student nurses from both universities receive practical training on the hospital wards whilst studying for their degrees.

Karen Hill, Senior Nurse for Professional Developmentsaid: “We are delighted and honoured to be shortlisted for the Student Nursing Times Awards. This demonstrates the passion we have for our students’ education and learning experience. It also shows how we value the importance of nurses and partnership working as a shared vision for quality healthcare delivery.”

The Award Ceremony takes place on 1 May in London. Later that same month, the new School of Nursing, based at the Royal Derby Hospital, will officially be opened by England’s Chief Nurse Jane Cummings.
