Specialists Bariatric Nurses

Collectively our nursing team have over 30 years of surgical nursing experience.They have all completed specialised training in behaviour change, weight management and gastric band adjustments.They are involved in the pre and post operative management of bariatric patients and hold nurse-led clinics in Surgical Outpatients and the x-ray department. 

They are key members of the Bariatric Multidisciplinary Team and offer support and advice to patients, relatives and carers and act as advocate on the patients behalf when liaising with GP’s and other Health Care Professionals. 

Kay Cresswel
Kay qualified as a registered nurse in 1998. She has been instrumental in setting up and developing the bariatric service in Derby and became a bariatric nurse specialist in 2004. 

She has developed her specialised knowledge, expertise and clinic skills through ongoing study. Her particular area of interest is the advanced management of the gastric band patient

Carol Green
RGN, SEN, Post Graduate Diploma Weight Management University of Chester, MSc Modules: Research Methods & Data Analysis; The Obesity Epidemic – Weight Management as a Public Health Issue; Childhood Obesity; Causes & Assessment of Obesity; Pharmacotherapy, Surgery & Alternative Methods: Health Promotion. Anna Powel
Anna is a registered nurse with a surgical/urology  background. High standards of patient care have been an important part of Annas career and her interest in nursing bariatric patients has developed from this. 

She joined our team in 2011 since then she has acquired the knowledge and skills to allow her to advise and care for our bariatric patients within the clinical environment.
