Haematology (blood)

The haematology team provides specialist assessment and treatment of a range of blood disorders in adults (age over 16, excluding blood cancers (see below) including:

  • Cancers of the blood system, for example leukaemia, lymphoma (Adults aged 19 and over only)
  • Clotting disorders, for example haemophilia, Von Willebrand's disease
  • Genetic disorders of the blood, for example thalassaemia, sickle cell disease.

Patients have access to a wide range of team members including consultant haematologists with various subspecialities and clinical nurse specialists.
