Visiting times

There is open visiting for parents. For any other visitors it is 2-4pm and 6-8pm. There is a door entry system onto the ward. If you are hard of hearing please use the green button.

Parent’s room

On Puffin Ward (The ward next to sunflower) there is a parents/carers room where you can get tea and coffee. Parents can bring this back to the ward area but not in the playroom as there are other children who are nil by mouth.

Costa

There are two Costa Coffees at the Royal Derby Hospital, one situated at the main hospital entrance and one at the maternity entrance.

M&S

There is a Marks and Spencers at the main entrance of the hospital that sells a variety of goods including microwavable meals, snacks and newspapers.

Boots

There is a Boots situated at the main entrance opposite M&S and next to Costa Coffee which sells some toiletries and over the counter medicines. If your child requires medicines to go home with (TTO’s) these shall come from main pharmacy and not Boots.

Car parking

There are many car parks in the hospital the two nearest the children’s hospital are Car park 6 and 4 (medical school). Pay machines are located in each car park. The car park office is in car park 6 and weekly tickets are available from there. Click here for more information.

Transport

Please arrange your own transport home by either car or taxi. We don’t recommend bus transport as if your child becomes unwell you need to be able to turn back to the hospital.

If your child needs to stay overnight there are parent’s beds next to each bed and 1 parent can stay overnight.
