Winners - April - June 2012

Between April and June 2012 a total of 143 staff received nominations for the Pride of Derby awards all of which received a personalised certificate from chief executive, Sue James.

At the public board meeting on 17 July 2012  the winners were recognised for going the extra mile for their patients and colleagues. They were presented with a framed certificate, a lanyard and badge to wear with pride.

Best Frontline member of staff

Mary Richards

Matron, Ward 408
  • Mary was nominated by several patients in recognition of her leadership in delivering a high standard of care on her ward.
  • Her warm and empathetic personality is reflected within her leadership style, which clearly helps patients to feel safe and valued.

Best Behind the Scenes member of staff

Roy Crawford

Head of Treatment Planning in Radiotherapy Physics Department
  • Roy fulfils all the qualities that deserve a Pride of Derby award; commitment, fantastic work ethic, and tirelessly working to improve the service to cancer patients.

 

Best Team

Stoma Nurses

Evans Liz (team leader), Abi Davidson, Dianne Smith, Lisa Cockram and Karen Kirkham as Admin support

  • This team stood out for their commitment to patients above and beyond their call of duty; praise was given for working to ensure patients were cared for appropriately, and with a strong emphasis on self care.
  • The nomination commended the team for their extremely approachable nature and that they were “worth their weight in gold”.
