Staff travel

If you’re reading this then it’s more than likely that you have recently been employed by Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust or are considering applying for a job with us. Some of the many things on your mind will be: ‘how can I travel to work?’, ‘Will there be somewhere to park my car?’ ‘What public transport is available?'

Travel to work comparison chart

At Derby Hospitals we have staff car parks at both the Royal Derby Hospital and London Road Community Hospital. There are around 2,000 staff car parking spaces at the Royal Derby Hospital and just under 600 at London Road Community Hospital.

However, as part of our Travel Plan we are committed to reducing the number of single occupancy car journeys made to work by our staff. Staff who work shifts, or need the spaces for clinical reasons, have priority when requesting car parking permits.

There is no need to worry though, because of our hospitals’ locations and good connections with public transport, there are alternative ways to travel to work.

Why not give them a try?

Did you know?
  • 20% of our staff live within a 3km walk of the Royal Derby Hospital site.

  • 28% of staff live within a 5km cycle ride of the Royal Derby Hospital site.

  • 43% of staff could travel by bus to the Royal Derby Hospital within 45 minutes, door-to-door.
