The Trust Board and The Council of Governors of Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are fully committed to promoting equality, diversity and human rights and achieving the elimination of unlawful discrimination. As chair and chief executive of Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, it is our duty and that of the Trust’s Board to implement our equality duties.
This will be achieved by ensuring that the Trust values equality, diversity and human rights and that it runs through all aspects of service provision and employment. The publication of our Equality Schemes and supporting information reflects a committed approach and represents a positive process that equality will consistently underpin all aspects of leadership and service planning at Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
To make our vision a reality, we are determined to promote equality of access and identify and eliminate any inequalities in everything we do. We also reaffirm our commitment to ensure that our own staff are treated fairly, with dignity and respect and afforded equality of opportunity to develop to their full potential.
Equality Schemes
Single Equality Scheme
The Trust has recently undertaken a review of the Single Equality Scheme with it's employees, patients, members and the local public. This relaunched scheme replaces race, disability and gender schemes. Over the next 6 months the Trust will be working with local NHS and interest groups to reshape the Single Equality Scheme to be in line with the new NHS Equality Delivery System.
Please refer to the SES document below.
Want to help shape our future direction on equality?
In April 2012 we will be launching our new Equality and Inclusion Workplan. This work plan will be based on the new NHS Equality Delivery System that all NHS Trusts will be expected to deliver.
The Equality Delivery System intends to target the following goals:
1. Better Health Outcomes for all
2. Improved patient access & experience
3. Empowered, engaged & well supported staff
4. Inclusive leadership at all levels
If you would like more information about this or to part in our consultation on how we can achieve these goals then please contact :adrian.piggott@derbyhospitals.nhs.uk
